Anime, of course is what the Japanese call Animation, setting up the
marriage roles of Japanese Studios and Producers that immerse us in mind
blowing series and movies of this genre; Imports are going to be those
unexpected side effects of what Anime has brought, such as "Figmas"
& "Nendoroids".
Studios are the creators of Anime, such as "Gonzo" forgetting its
financial troubles, developed and pushed us series like Vandread,
Hellsing, Samurai 7, Rosario + Vampire and a personal favorite Afro
Samurai; followed by "Tezuka Productions" created by the illustrious
Osama Tezuka that brought us Astro Boy, brand management falls to his
son Makoto Tezuka which so far has introduced a current film "The Life
of Gusko Budori" a few old school series such as "Aoi Blink" and "The
New Adventures of Kimba the White Lion"; A bizarre puzzle piece in all
of this, is a company called "Mushi Production" or the short version
"Mushi Pro" which was responsible for Osamu Tezuka starting his own
company and in the late 1960's was responsible for the first X-rated
Anime or Hentai and if you did not guess it, Yup, they bankrupted
themselves in the early 1970's and a later version of "Mushi Production"
founded itself in the mid 70's which made it feasible for studios like
"Kyoto Animation" to establish themselves and bring us series like "The
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya", "Kanon", "Luck Star" and "Clannad" with
their films of similar title like, "The Disappearance of Haruhi
Suzumiya" and "K-On!"
Producers are networks for streaming Anime series and films, which is
huge for companies like "Animax" which is a subsidiary of Sony,
dedicated to broadcasting works done by studios that develop Anime;
another powerhouse owned by Sony is "Aniplex", which is responsible for
the tri-fecta of planning, production and distribution of some well
known series such as "Angel Beats", Full Metal Alchemist" and "Birdy the
Mighty:Decode"; There are others not under the Sony umbrella such as,
"Genco, Inc" which maintain its own studio to broadcast series like
"Elfien Lied", "Phantom, Requiem for the Phantom" and "Dance in the
Vampire Bund"; and the last major player that goes back to the mid
1960's is "Pony Canyon, Inc" this privately owned company, by Fuji
Media, handles, DVD's, VHS, Video Games and is a leading music label for
hot Japanese groups, this company alone would validate a full article.
Imports, not just automobiles and broadcast signals; Since 2008 a
niche market has been establishing itself, Japanese action figures, G.I.
Joe and Mr. Potato Head here is your heads up, with production
abilities by "Max Factory" and the distribution strengths of the "Good
Smile Company" these figures are based on Anime characters and a
synthesizing software called "Vocaloid", Jay-Z and Lil Wayne would make
tremendous Vocaloids hahaa; these action figures are known as two
specific types, the first or more known would be, Figma's, which are a
balance between character accuracy and poseability with various
accessories, while their miniature counter parts, Nendoroids, have their
character likeness delivered in a cute clay like version, of having a
large head and a small body and their interchangeable parts give them
multiple expressions and poses. For more on these collectible imports
and companies you can visit the "Collectibles" page on "Asian Shadow".
